Frame Adjustment Guide

1. Plastic (Acetate) Eyeglass & Sunglass Frames

Important Note
Acetate frames are hand-assembled, so slight misalignments (e.g., uneven temples, bridge slightly off-center) may occur.
This is normal, not a defect. Such issues can be corrected with simple adjustments.

Tools Recommended

  • Frame warmer / hot air blower (optical standard) or hot water (alternative)
  • Optical pliers with nylon jaws (to prevent scratches)
  • Small screwdriver set (for hinge screws)
  • Soft cloth (to protect frame and lenses)

Adjustment Process

  1. Inspect the frame for cracks, stress points, or loose screws.
  2. Warm the area to be adjusted (bridge or temples) until it becomes slightly flexible.
  3. Adjust carefully:
    • Temples – bend in or out at the hinge to correct frame width.
    • Temple tips – bend slightly to wrap comfortably behind the ear.
    • Bridge – press inward or outward to improve nose fit.
  4. Allow the frame to cool naturally.
  5. Tighten hinge screws if necessary.
  6. Re-check alignment on a flat surface.

💡 Reminder: Small adjustments are part of normal optical practice and do not indicate poor frame quality.

2. Metal Eyeglass & Sunglass Frames

Important Note
Metal frames are typically more stable, but adjustments may be needed due to shipping or handling.

Tools Recommended

  • Standard optical pliers (nylon-coated for protection)
  • Screwdriver set (hinge + nose pad screws)
  • Soft cloth

Adjustment Process

  1. Inspect the frame for loose screws, bends, or twisted parts.
  2. Adjust temples using pliers:
    • Bend in or out at the hinge to change frame width.
    • Shape temple tips slightly for ear comfort.
  3. Adjust nose pads (if present):
    • Pads should sit evenly and rest comfortably on both sides of the nose.
  4. Tighten all screws to secure the fit.
  5. Check symmetry and comfort.

💡 Reminder: Metal frame adjustments are usually minor and do not reflect defects.

Final Note

  • Slight misalignments (especially in acetate frames) are normal and easily corrected.
  • These are not manufacturing defects.
  • Proper adjustment ensures the best comfort, fit, and professional presentation to your customers.
